Small Sculpture Prize, Australia

Now in its
ninth year, this prestigious acquisitive Small Sculpture Prize is calling for
artists to enter their work offering a chance to win a total of $13,000 AUD in
prize money.
The Prize is the only Australian national prize for free standing sculptures of
smaller dimensions (up to 80cm) and annually attracts over 450 entries.
Entries for the Prize close for pre-selection on Friday August 14 and finalists
will be selected for the free public exhibition to take place at Council’s
Redleaf building between October 24 and November 1.

Call for Nebraska Sculpture Entries

The Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games
(S02010) announces a call to artists for the Special Olympic Sculpture
competition. The Sculpture for the 2010 National Special Olympics is a
receptacle for the flame from the torch that will be run throughout the state
to announce the Olympics. At the culmination of the Opening Ceremony, a torch
will be run into the venue and will light
the Sculpture that will burn throughout the week of
Each submission must be an original design and
stand alone. All materials must be completely weatherproof, non-flammable and
suitable for indoor and outdoor public viewing. The Sculpture must be a strong
visual with or without the actual flame; the burner must be integral to the
design. The Sculpture must be able to incorporate propane (for outdoor use) as
well as natural gas (for indoor use) capabilities (propane and natural gas paid
for by S02010) so that it may be lit easily, safely from the ground, and stay
lit throughout the ceremonies, in varying weather conditions (guaranteed). Natural
Gas and propane source must be integral to the design. The Sculpture must be
able to be moved to an outdoor venue and continue to be lit.
The Sculpture must have outdoor capability for
20 years (for future display) and the artist must provide a complete warranty
as to such condition and operation. The Sculpture must be able to comply with
NFPA 160, Standard for Flame Effects before an Audience 2001 ed. to also comply
with University of Nebraska rules and regulations involving the Bob Devaney Center. The Bob Devaney Center's floor will support 100 pounds per square foot weight and the opening for the doorway is 14 feet wide and 8 feet, 5 inches high.
All Maquettes submitted will be the property of
the Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games and may be auctioned as a
fundraiser. The 2010 USA National Games will provide the artists of sold
maquettes 30% of the proceeds tied to that maquette.
